ScoresOddsPicks.com Previews Final 4 Props With Vegas Picks
Apr 3rd, 2010

Ian Van Den Hurk of ScoresOddsPicks breaks down Final 4 proposition bets.

Final Four props: breaking down the big weekend

The Final Four gets underway this weekend, with Duke, West Virginia, Michigan State and Butler the last teams standing during March Madness. There are plenty of props available this weekend; here’s a look at some Final Four props from Bodog—some what you’d expect, and a strange one or two.

Who will score the most points during the Final Four?

Smart money: Da’Sean Bulter (3/1) – West Virginia is rolling and he’s as explosive as they get; just look at his 28-point performance earlier this tournament.

Underdog value: Durrell Summers (12/1) – Michigan State’s Summers has the worst odds of Bodog’s options, but the junior guard is averaging 22 points over his last three games.

How many points will Durrell Summers score?

While we’re on the topic of Summers, he’s getting -130 odds to score more than 13 points and -110 to score under. Definitely bank on the over.

Who will win NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player?

Smart money: Kyle Singler (5/1) – A terrible 0-10 outing against Baylor notwithstanding, Singler has had a sensational tournament; before that brutal effort, he averaged 21 points and 7.7 rebounds through three games.

Underdog value: Kevin Jones (10/1) – Jones has enjoyed a super-solid March thus far. Through four games he’s averaging 15.3 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. If he can add an explosive performance and it might be enough to earn MOP honors.

How many times will the announcers mention that Kalin Lucas is the Big Ten Player of the Year during the Butler/Michigan State telecast?

Lucas will be forced to watch his teammates from the Michigan State bench after suffering an injury during the tournament. Bodog has the total mentions of Lucas’ award at one, with the over getting -140 and under getting even. Take the over.

What will the final championship match up be?

Smart money: Duke vs. Butler (2/1)  – The highest odds on the board, this is for the people that still believe Michigan State is doomed without Lucas. It hasn’t hurt the Spartans this far, though.

Underdog value: West Virginia vs. Butler (13/4) – Conversely, these are the worst odds on the board. But why not take them? It’s already been one of the most crazy and thrilling—if not the most crazy and thrilling—NCAA Tournaments in history. At this point, West Virginia vs. Butler doesn’t really seem like a bizarre long-shot, does it?
